Like any mode of transport, your bike needs to be looked after and regularly checked for wear and tear. Whether you use your bike every day or it has been in your shed, garage or garden for a while, it may be in need of a maintenance check to help ensure that it's good to take on the road and you get the best performance from it.
Fit To Ride bike checks
Our Active Cycles shop in Accrington is now providing low cost bike checks carried out by a qualified mechanic for just £10.
Our mechanic will check the following:
• Wheel fastenings and the condition of your tyres, pumping these up where needed
• Brakes, adjusting these where appropriate
• Cranks, pedals and bottom brackets
• Headset, stem and handlebar fastenings
• Seatpost and saddle fastenings
• Gears, adusting these if needed
• Chains, ensuring they are lubricated
As part of the service, our mechanic would recommend any further work that may be required to ensure the bike is safe and we can provide parts at a low cost if required. Please note that no new parts would be included as part of the check itself.
All funds raised through our bike checks are reinvested into Active Cycles and will help us to get more low cost bikes out into the local community, saving them from going to landfill.
