Pendle Youth Employment Service Celebrates Third Anniversary

Pendle YES Hub, a youth employment service based in Nelson, proudly commemorated its third anniversary recently. Originally established in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hub has since become a cornerstone of support for over 1000 young people, aiding them in entering employment, enhancing their wellbeing, and accessing training courses.

Operated by Active Lancashire in partnership with Pendle Council, Positive Action in the Community (PAC), and the Department for Work and Pensions, Pendle YES Hub offers a comprehensive range of services tailored for individuals aged 16-24. These services include physical activity provisions, one-to-one mental wellbeing support, employability advice, and access to training qualifications.

Adrian Leather, CEO of Active Lancashire, said “The Pendle YES Hub has brought together some amazing partners and hugely committed people to support the young people of Nelson and Colne to make life changing decisions to improve their health, educational and employment prospects.

“The staff have shown real energy and passion to help people engage with more active lives, better mental health and stronger social networks. Congratulations and thanks to our staff, partners and Pendle Council for their dedication and support.”

The third-anniversary celebration took place on 15th May, bringing together current and past participants to reflect on the support provided by the Hub. Partners of Pendle YES Hub and local organisations were also in attendance, learning more about the services available and how they can contribute to the Hub's mission.

The celebration was also the final public event for Cllr Brian Newman in his Mayoral role for Pendle; Cllr Newman has attended the Hub previously to see the important work which it does for those in the community and added that, “It was a real honour and privilege to attend Pendle YES Hub’s 3rd anniversary, especially with it being the last engagement of my Mayoral year.

“It was a brilliant opportunity to see the huge range of services provided by the very dedicated staff at Pendle YES Hub for young people in Pendle.”

Thanks to the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), Pendle YES Hub can offer targeted support to 16-24-year-olds who are struggling to find employment or require assistance with mental or physical wellbeing.
