As an Active Recovery Support Mentor, I empower people in recovery to rebuild their confidence, improve their wellbeing and lead healthier, more active lives through the power of physical activity. By providing one to one support, encouragement and drawing on my own lived experiences. I help individuals overcome barriers, discover new opportunities and develop positive, sustainable habits. My role is about inspiring lasting change, strengthening recovery and helping create healthier communities across Lancashire by making physical activity accessible, enjoyable and achievable for everyone.
Why I Do What I Do
My biggest motivation is knowing firsthand that recovery is possible. When I entered recovery, Active Recovery gave me so much more than opportunities to be active. It gave me hope, purpose, connection and a sense of belonging when I needed it the most. Physical activity became my therapy, helping me rebuild confidence, improve my mental and physical wellbeing and create a life I never through was possible.
Having experienced that transformation myself, I am deeply passionate about giving back. There is nothing more rewarding than helping someone take those first steps, believe in themselves again and realise that they too can build a healthier, happier future. If my journey can inspire even one person to change their life, then every day in this role is worthwhile.
