Our Lady’s Catholic College in Lancashire is proud to announce that Steven Jamieson has been recognised as a winner at the 2026 School Games Impact Awards, a national honour celebrating individuals who make exceptional contributions to school sport and physical activity.

The School Games, delivered by the Youth Sport Trust and supported by Sport England, is a nationwide initiative that provides inclusive and inspiring sporting opportunities for children and young people. The annual Impact Awards recognise individuals who have gone above and beyond in bringing this mission to life.

Steven was selected for their outstanding work in the ‘Youth Sport Trust and Sail GP Impact League Schools Award’ category. Steven delivered a creative, gamified transition programme using woodland challenges and climate‑themed storytelling to support Year 5-8 pupils, including those with anxiety or SEND. By delivering physical activity, teamwork and nature‑based learning, the project built confidence, social skills and environmental connection, helping pupils feel supported and positive about moving to secondary school.

Headteacher Helen Seddon commented: “We are thrilled to see Steven recognised nationally. Their dedication to creating an inclusive and engaging environment for all our pupils has made a real difference and embodies the values of our school. At a time when supporting children’s physical activity and wellbeing is more important than ever, their work has helped many of young people to embrace and enjoy being active”

This achievement shines a spotlight on the importance of school sport in improving young people’s physical and mental wellbeing, promoting character development, and fostering a sense of community.
