Schools Partnerships and Skills Officer

Andy Clark

Schools Partnerships and Skills Officer

I coordinate and deliver key programmes that encourage children and young people to be more active, healthier, and engaged in physical activity and sport. My role includes leading the SPAR Lancashire School Games, overseeing the Active Lives Survey in schools to measure and improve participation, and delivering Multi-Skill Activator sessions that help pupils develop the fundamental skills they need to enjoy a lifelong involvement in physical activity. Through strong relationships with schools, community partners, and coaches, I help create inclusive opportunities for every child to be active.

Why I Do What I Do

I’m passionate about giving every young person the chance to experience the joy and benefits of sport, no matter their background or ability. Seeing children discover a sport they love or grow in confidence through physical activity is incredibly rewarding and keeps me motivated every day.

Living Our Values

  • Everyone Counts: I make sure our programmes are accessible and inclusive so that no child is left behind.
  • Working Together: Collaboration with teachers, coaches, and community partners is at the heart of how I make our projects thrive.
  • Passion: I care deeply about creating a positive, lasting impact on young people’s lives through sport and physical activity.

My Active Lancashire

I enjoy staying active through coaching and playing handball, as well as getting outdoors for walks and exploring new places.

A Project I’m Proud Of

I’m especially proud of my work on the Opening Schools Facilities Fund, which aimed to increase opportunities for young people and local communities to access school sports facilities outside of normal hours. The programme smashed all its targets, 252,543 pupils and 93,264 community members took part in 189,071 activity sessions delivered across 1,580 schools nationally. Seeing the scale of engagement and the positive impact on both pupils and the wider community was incredibly rewarding, and it highlighted the power of schools as hubs for health and activity.
